Job Summary & Responsibilities

Duties: Associate-Intermediate/Vice President with ECC in New York, NY. As a Vice President within the Conflicts Resolution Group (CRG), responsible for the conflicts and business selection review for checks launched by the Firm’s Investment Banking, Securities, Merchant Banking, Finance and Investment Management divisions with regard to the Technology and Media sectors of the Technology, Media & Telecom (TMT) Industry. Speak with senior business team members across divisions (e.g., Investment Banking Division, Merchant Banking Division, Securities Division, Investment Management Division) to understand transaction opportunities in the advisory, financing and principal areas. Identify potential issues related to conflicts, client sensitivity, reputational and business selection considerations including interacting with senior deal team members and industry business unit leaders as well as members of the global CRG team. Create solutions to appropriately navigate potential conflict and business selection issues. Conduct due diligence on business opportunities under review by considering current and historical assignments, relevant ECC positions and other information potentially relevant to make independent recommendations as to whether assignments may proceed. Consult with senior professionals in other control functions and the Executive office, including the Business Intelligence Group, Legal and Media Relations, among others, as part of the diligence process in order to determine whether the firm may pursue a transaction. Manage the conflict check process for each transaction to ensure any potential relevant issues identified during the review process are addressed and resolved and documented appropriately. Document the elements of review for each conflict check in CRG’s proprietary database, which is used to facilitate and record information concerning the initiation and resolution of conflict checks. Monitor the status of opportunities previously cleared in order to proactively identify any potential issues that may arise following the completion of the conflict check. Actively manage projects that are oriented towards internal policy and procedures on new issues and improving efficiencies across the CRG team. Direct, oversee and assess the work performed by junior team members.

Work Schedule: 40 hours per week (9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.)

Job Requirements: Bachelor of Arts with concentration in Finance, Economics, Math, History (U.S. or foreign equivalent), plus five (5) years of experience in the job offered or a related role. Must have experience with: Financial products/transactions; engaging with senior professionals in verbal communications to discuss substantive matters; project management, including identifying areas for process and/or operational improvement, developing strategies to implement improvements; identification and assessment of risks (reputational, conflict and/or credit risk); risk mitigation strategy development; management of a junior team; negotiation with internal constituencies within a corporate setting.
